Lunch included in a local restaurant.

In the afternoon we have a guided hiking tour to La Fortuna Waterfall. Dropping 75 meters into a bright blue pool, this waterfall paints a perfect postcard of the Costa Rican jungle. The water is fed by the Tenorio River that goes through the rainforest in the Arenal area until it reaches a cliff to create this waterfall. You can get different views as the hike will be from the visitor’s station to the base of the fall.

Finally, we will take you to the relaxing thermal waters near the volcano where you can swim and relax in these naturally heated hot springs. Dinner is included at the hot springs restaurant so you can enjoy more time here.

The purpose of this program is to contribute to the local sustainable development of the communities by cleaning trails in the biological reserves or carrying out other activities to be done in the communities or on family farms. With the family, you will have lunch.

This activity would be perfect for improving Spanish skills and communicating with locals. The local school has a beautiful folklore dance, so you can practice it with them.

Day 5  Monteverde Cloudforest hike and Butterfly Garden

Breakfast at the hotel.

This morning you will walk through one of the most biodiverse places in Costa Rica, Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve. A walk through the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve reveals a lush garden of mosses, ferns, flowers and epiphytes growing thickly on every tree. Clouds drift in and settle among the slopes, providing the plants with the continuous moisture that they require. Dangling roots and vines sweep across the trails, while the sounds of birds and other creatures echo throughout the forest.

A cloud forest is a high-elevation forest characterized by a persistent, canopy-level cloud cover. These clouds provide the forest with a continual supply of moisture, which supports the fantastic array of plants that live here.

You will walk with your expert guide.

Lunch included in a local restaurant.

We are going to have the next experience in the garden; an introduction to Costa Rica's buglife, and an orientation to the Gardens. A stroll through in the 4 unique gardens, full of spectacular butterflies. A stop at the active leafcutter ant colony, and a sneak peek inside.
